Descrizione: On the occasion of the campaign of Jean Cristofol, outgoing mayor and Communist candidate in the municipal elections of October 1947 in Marseille, a laudatory presentation of the results of his mandate. After a tourist, economic and historical tour of the city, a reminder of the battles of the Resistance and the Liberation, and a description of the enormous material losses suffered by the city of Marseille, "Voilà Marseille" focuses on the work of the Communist municipality and the voluntary work of the population in favor of the reconstruction of the city. A large part is dedicated to the Équipes de choc (Shock Teams), voluntary participants in the reconstruction of the city, while German prisoners were also used. The nurseries, summer camps, radiography centers, artificial beaches (with ultraviolet rays), the transportation policy of the municipality (bus, streetcar) ... are presented. This film of municipal propaganda takes care, after a brief filmed speech of the mayor Jean Cristofol, to present most of the deputies and some of the city councilors in the field, in full action. It mixes archive footage (landing, fighting and parades of the Liberation), reconstructed sequences (in particular scenes of the Resistance) and documentary shots. (In the port under reconstruction, shot on a diver). The "July 10th appeal" launched by the Communist Party in 1940 is presented as the founding act of the Resistance, while the Gaullist and American commitments are obscured. "Voilà Marseille" is resolutely in line with the battle of production and reconstruction, while underlining the original voluntarism of a Communist municipality. Produced in record time for the municipal elections of October 18, 1947, it was presented to the public for the first time at the Marseilles Fair on September 28, 1947, during a ceremony in honor of the shock teams.
